SWAC Football Weekly Honors - Week 12

Jimmy Oliver, Jackson State (QB, 6’1, 185, Sr., Columbia, Miss.)

Oliver completed 17-33 passes for 245 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 111 yards on 14 carries. He was also named the Offensive MVP for the 2007 Capital City Classic

Defensive Player of the Week
Jon Johnson, Prairie View A&M (DE, 6’2, 225, Sr., Houston, Texas)

Johnson racked up five solo tackles, including two for losses, one sack, one fumble recovery, one interception, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry

Specialist Player of the Week
Pedro Ventura, Prairie View A&M (P, 5’9, 170, Fr., Houston Texas)

Ventura averaged 42.3 yards on seven punts. He placed three punts inside the 20-yard line with a long of 69 yards.

Newcomer of the Week
Dennis Coit, Jackson State (DT, 6’1, 320, Jr., New Castle, Del.)

Coit recorded two tackles, 1.5 tackles for a loss of two yards and one interception.

Notables
Mark Spivey, Prairie View A&M –17-35 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns. Eight carries for 49 yards

Marcellus Speaks, Jackson State – Eight tackles, including 1.5 tackles for a loss of 10 yards, one sack

Brett Bennett, Jackson State – four punts for 131 yards, dropped two punts inside the 20-yard line

    Finally that westfield boy is getting the recognition he deserves…….He is a heck of a punter infact he has the longest punt this season. Go Pedro Ventura!!! and Go P…V…U!!!
    Also Jon Johnson great sack and awesome tackles you made that offense sweat. Again congradulations to PV we did it!!!
