Players of the Week

Prairie View A&M forward Angelica Diaz has been named SWAC Offensive Player of the Week; defender Ashley Bailey and goalkeeper Kristin Swanson of Mississippi Valley State were tabbed Defensive Player and Goalkeeeper of the Week, respectively.

National Rankings

• The UAPB Lady Lions are ranked in the top 50 in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 2.5 goals per game.

• UAPB’s Nicole Parks-Powell and Jade West are ranked first and second in the nation in points per game. Powell leads Division I averaging 4.0 points per game while West is second tallying 3.25 points per outing. Powell is also the national leader in goals per game (1.67) while West is seventh (1.25).

• Alabama State’s Chelsea Nash (12.33 spg) and Grambling State’s Cherie Silas (10.5 spg) lead a group of four SWAC goalkeepers who are in the top ten in saves per game. Texas Southern’s Keisha McDaniel (10.0 spg) and Alcorn State’s Elaine Opusunju (8.3 spg) round out the list.
