Southern Removes Stump Mitchell As Head Football Coach

Southern University has officially parted ways with Stump Mitchell as the school’s head football coach.

In a press conference held Friday afternoon on the SU campus, athletics director William Broussard announced that Mitchell has been reassigned to another administrative position. However, Broussard declined to reveal what Mitchell’s new role would be.

Mitchell leaves the program with an overall record of 6-18.

Defensive coordinator Dawson Odoms has been named as the schools interim head coach.

Broussard said that a search for a new head coach would commence at the end of the season.
