UTEP is going to be a big test for TSU, just as Tulane will be for SU.

Schools such as UTEP and Tulane won't make the common mistakes that SWAC team will make. These teams will be well coached, well conditioned and well prepared.

We have alot of talent in the SWAC, but very, very, very little fundamental skills. If we had half the coaching skills and work out facilities that PWC's have, the SWAC would be unstoppable.

I feel you man I feel you. Although, UTEP was not the problem. TxSU was their own worst enemy saturday. TSU killed themselves UTEP just watched and took advantage of the opportunities they were given like any team should.

One thing I will say is I now truly believe that their is a great disparity in coaching at HBCU's compared to PWC's. I don't know if it is a budget financial thing or what?

Man, I don't want to seem that I'm putting down on our programs. However, let's be realistic about all aspects of this thing:

Athletes: First D1 schools have more scholarships to offer...that gives them an edge in depth. Next they sign more blue chip athletes than we do...most of the black athletes and all the whites...they can give full scholarships to a punter, a kicker, and a kickoff specialist. Usually, we have one guy doing all three.

Facilities: The weight rooms are better equipped and usually our strength and conditioning coach (if we have one) is shared by all sports and may be one person with an assistant. They usually have a full time strength and conditioning coach with a staff that includes members for each sports as well as a nutritionalist.

Coaches: We pay our assistants 30-35K/yr on the average. They pay about 50-65K/per year on the average. Need I say more.

Our mistakes were UTEPs best offense.

This was a pathetic showing on Texas Southern's part in representing the SWAC.

On behalf of Coach Thomas, Iwould like to apologize to the SWAC for that display of what you would call football.

BTW, TSU tapped the self-destruct button in this game. The types of mistakes TSU made would be unacceptable for a high school team, this was a piss poor showing for TSU. I'll be the first to admit that, and for the life of me I can't figure out why. It seemed as if our guys were victims of a STD case. Which is a coaching issue.

STD = Sked to Death! Thomas didn't have them prepared.

Why am I trying to explain to PF, PV doesn't deserve an explanation from anyone?

Stephy,

I was not trying to down TSU by what I stated.

In a previous post I stated that I was pulling for TSU to win, but that the game would be a tough one for TSU.

I stated this because UTEP, although the are weak in their conference, would not make the common errors and poor judgement mistakes that a SWAC team would make. This will be the same situation when SU plays Tulane. If we make the mental mistakes we are going to get blown out as well.
