Today's monumental victory has come to a pleasant surprise to President Obama's supporters, and the chagrin of his detractors. The true shocker was the Majority opinion delivered by John Roberts, the chief justice, and conservative judge appointed by Former President G.W. Bush in 2006. This change of course may be a sign of reason and compassion being used over politics.
Well, as a justice on the Court, judges are not held to constituent concerns, or term limits on their tenure.
The current protests and revolts in the Middle East are definitely not new, but are surprising. The revolts also draws parallels with those in Europe in 1848. The Revolutions of 1848 were inspired by the Napolenic Code, and its effect on conquered and vassal states of Imperial France under Napoleon. They led to the uprooting of Louis Philippe of France, the ousting of Metternich in Austria, and the ushering of constitutional monarchies to replace the more authoritarian regimes of Europe's kingdoms.
In the past, Southern has had its share of sports dynasties: the 1948-1950 Jaguar football teams, the strong Jaguar basketball teams of the 1970's and 1980's, the supreme Jaguar men and women track and field teams of the 1990's and 2000's, and the stellar baseball and football teams under Coach Hines, then Coach Cador, and Coach Richardson.
