Why USC and Not A Black College, Dr. Dre?

by kendrick on May 21, 2013 at 01:29 PM
In 2004, the US Department of Education published a study of HBCUs that found that, as of 2001, HBCUs accounted for 13% of black higher education enrollment.

Texas Southern should be wary of SWAC Tournament pitfalls

by kendrick on March 1, 2011 at 11:45 PM
With a recent conference win at Alabama A&M, the Texas Southern men’s basketball team has secured at least a tie for the regular season title and No. 1 seed at the 2011 Farmers Insurance SWAC Basketball Tournament.

That is the good news.

The bad news is that Texas Southern (16-10, 14-1) probably won’t make the NCAA Tournament.

If the troubling trend for regular season conference champions holds true, the Tigers will not make it through the league

Jackson State coaches need to stay above the fray

by kendrick on February 22, 2011 at 04:29 AM
In just a four-month span Jackson State University officials has been placed in the unenviable position of having to discipline coaches for boorish behavior after and during games.

Late Monday the SWAC office suspended Jackson State assistant baseball coach Kevin Whiteside for six games and fined him $2,000 for his role in an altercation during a contest between Prairie View A&M and Jackson State last Saturday.

According to reports, Whiteside, a second-year
